Steve Morgan
About Steve

Biography

A native of St. Louis Missouri, Steve absorbed the blues, jazz, country and rock and roll playing on the radio stations and in the local clubs and bars. You'll hear all of these sounds, especially the sounds of the blues, in Steve’s compositions. The blues accent shows through, proud and strong, in many of Steve’s songs, especially with the slide guitar showcased in many of those songs.

A move to Wellfleet Massachusetts in 1992 signaled a punctuation mark in Steve’s compositions and playing career. While Cape Cod was not exactly blues central, it still had a thriving music scene and many players and audiences who appreciated soulful vocals and blues-based material.

Sixteen years later, Steve is still playing and writing, with two albums to his credit: the newly issued “Hurricane”, available here and on www.cdbaby.com, and Steve Morgan and the Kingfish, “Boppin' the Blues”, currently out of print, but available as a download on this site. In addition, he has recorded with Willy and the Po' Boys, The House Band, Skeeter and The Buzztones, and John "The Rev" Nelson.

Steve performs regularly on Cape Cod with Willy and the Po' Boys as lead guitarist and with his own band, Steve Morgan and the Kingfish.

Steve has played with, shared stages and opened for Jimmy Rodgers, Barbara Carr, Oliver Sain, Henry Townsend, Silver Cloud, The Nighthawks, Ansen Funderburg and the Rockets, Johnny Johnson, James Crutchfield, Dave MacKenzie and many others.
