Supplemental CD information

Musicians:

Mark van Bork, drummer:
Berklee School of Music graduate and an in-demand drummer for many bands on and off Cape Cod. Solid, tasteful, and excellent sense of time. He and Dave Gilmore have provided drums and bass for  Steve Morgan and the Kingfish off and on in various projects in the past.

Dave Gilmore, bass: A long time player in the Outer Cape music scene. As solid as they come, with tone to match. Listen to the punchy bass in Hurricane or Musica non Grata.

Laird Boles, standup bass: A very in-demand exceptional player, working in a wide variety of musical genres. A fixture in the jazz and acoustic music scene.

Steve “Doc” Lindberg, piano, keys: A relative newcomer to Cape Cod, but very much in-demand. He has solid musical credits, due to many years spent in Nashville, with ten of those years spent working as the road piano player for Dwight Yoakum.

Bruce Abbott: sax: “The” jazz sax player, on the Cape. A long time fixture on the Cape, he performs regularly with his own group and also as a duo with Fred Fried, noted eight string jazz guitarist, and others.

Jeff “Hollywood” Heyward, sax: The guy to go to for rock and roll and soul sax parts, as well as being an exceptional section player. Great raucous tone.

Paul Dinsmore: trumpet: In addition to being a fine trumpet player, Paul is also an excellent lead vocalist in his own right. He and Steve have played together in several bands including the Kingfish through the years. An inventive section player.

Dave Gilmour, Bryant Edwards, backup vocals: Two of the four vocalists in the now defunct “Avenue X,” band, an acapella doo wop group. Terrifically inventive vocal stylists.

Tom Tracy, backup vocals: In addition to being the recording engineer, Tom brings incredible vocal chops to the table. Also a hugely talented guitarist and entertainer.

Lyrics

HURRICANE

My love'll hit you like a hurricane
I'll take you there and bring you back again
My love'll hit you like a hurricane
I'll tear you down and build you up again
I'll cure your blues and take away your pain
My love'll hit you like a hurricane

I'll treat you right, now just you wait and see
Don't ever think you'll get your fill of me
Now come on baby won't you try and see
just how sweet my good love can be
I'll treat you right now just you wait and see
You'll be cryin' for my company

BRIDGE
You know you're gonna love me, put no one above me, you know I tell you true,
You know you're gonna love me, put no one above me, so tell me what you gonna do
solo, back to bridge

Can't stand to see you baby, 3x
walk away
I'll make you feel so good in everyway
Well my good love'll rock your blues away
love like mine don't come round every day
you know you're gonna love the way I play
so that's the reason that I've got to say

My love'll hit you like a hurricane
I'll take you there & bring you back again
My love'll hit you like a hurricane
I'll warm you up & cool you down again
I'll cure your blues and take away your pain
My love'll hit you like a hurricane 4x out

He’s a young kid laughin’

He’s a young kid laughin’, having a good time
Just walkin’ down the street, and you’d think it was a crime 2x

I was walkin, down the street one day
And you know I heard somebody say
What's that goin on anyway,
Let's call the law and drag him away

You know he never lived around here,
why’s he in our neighborhood?
Let me make this clearly understood,
that boy got to be up to no good.

He’s just a young kid laughin’, on the street and in the school,
Runnin’ and a jumpin’, actin’ like a fool.

Yeah he’s a young kid laughin, and he’s talkin’ way too loud,
You know he’s much too happy, you know he’s way too proud

Yeah he’s young kid laughin’, he’s havin’ a good time.

Repeat as needed

that was then, and this is now

It used to be, I was your only boy
And I could see, I was your pride and joy,
yeah that was then, and this is now,
I guess I lost your love

You said I was a keeper, your hero a star,
But now I wonder, how I fell so far,
well that was then, this is now, I guess I lost your love

Solo, Repeat verses out

Tuned in, turned on

I spent a long time getting to where I been,
I spent some time with angels and I spent some time with sin,
Sometimes it seems I’m drinkin’ from an empty cup,
I’m finally getting tired of trying to fill it up,
I tuned in // I turned on // ******** I’m gone

If you wasn’t here second or you weren’t here first,
You won’t like this, you’re gonna like that worse
Now I don’t need no Dr., I don’t need no nurse,
The news is bad and it’s gettin worse.
I tuned in // I turned on // ******** I’m gone

Bridge
I followed the instructions, you know I read the book
I even took time to take a second look
So don’t bother knockin’ or, comin’ round,
You know I’m gone-lost-cannot be found, I’m gone

BLUES FEVER
It’s late at night, you toss and turn
You try to sleep, your thoughts still burn
You’re rollin’ and tumblin’ but you know why you burn
Blues fever, 2x
Wake up alone, lover’s gone
Can’t help but wonder what have you done
You start to feelin restless but there’s nothin’ for you to do
Blues fever 2x
Solos
Tear stained cheeks, and lyin eyes
You saw it comin’, you weren’t surprised
Why you keep comin back and comin back for more
Blues fever 2x

You’re rolling and tumblin and you know why you burn
Blues fever 2x
You start to feelin restless but there’s nothin for you to do
Blues fever 2x
And you keep comin back and comin back for more
Blues fever 4x out,

I wonder

I wonder where you are, when I wake up, all alone
I wonder where you are, when I wake up, and you’re gone

I wonder where you are, I wonder where you are,
I wonder where you are,

I wonder where you are, when your thoughts so far away
I wonder where you are, when you’ve nothing left to say
I wonder where you are, I wonder where you are,
I wonder where you are,
Bridge
I stood at my window and I stared at the stars,
and I listened to my heart and I counted the scars
I don’t know where you went or
why you’ve treated me so wrong
I just know, you’re gone.

Musica non grata

Musica non grata, Buenos dias, adios
Vaya con dios, yanqui go home

I was south of the border, had too much law and order
I was looking for a warm place to play.

So I drove down the coast, til I started to roast
And I found a nice town on a bay.

I played all my Dylan, I even played Willin’
I played John George Ringo and Paul

But I was ignored, everybody was bored
And then I heard somebody call,

CHORUS: Musica non grata, Buenos dias, adios
Vaya con dios, yanqui go home

Well that was dismayin’ but I kept on playing for a just a few coins in my jar
If this didn’t improve then I’d have to move and go back to living in my car

Then the natives got restless so I gave it my best guess. It’s time for this bird to fly,
I was headed downtown when a crowd gathered round
Then I heard somebody cry

Chorus
You one crazy gringo, no comprendo our lingo
You chase senoritas around
If you keep doing that stuff then things might get rough so maybe you better leave town

I grabbed my guitar and jumped into my car
Then I waved goodbye all around
Took a last swig of beer and the crowd raised a cheer,
As they saw my taillights leave town

Chorus out

SOLANGE

You gave me your hand, and you led me away
We loved through the night, until the day
The stars have all faded and the morning has come
You say you must leave and you turn to the sun
You’re my angel of the night my sweet Solange

I’ve wondered so long what did I do wrong
Was the love in your eyes only meant to disguise
Your laughter was soft and your kisses so sweet
You turned to the sun then you said you must leave,
Angel of the night sweet solange
Bridge
Solange, the stars are fading, I stand here waiting
Now it’s dawn and you are gone, Solange
repeat first two verses

Angel of the night sweet solange,
angel of the night sweet solange
You’re my angel of the night my sweet Solange

One AM in Provincetown

It’s one AM in Provincetown,
Gotta get back home, gotta keep my head down,
Gotta fly real low gotta drive real slow
Cause the Police are waitin’ out there they know
havin’ too much fun, in Provincetown

It’s another late night in Provincetown
All the shops are closed, all the crowds are gone
So’s my money so I better go
You know the police are waitin' out there they know
havin’ too much fun, in Provincetown

It’s another great night in Provincetown,
I’m havin’ too much fun, ain’t never comin’ down
Gonna sleep out on the beach if the tide is real low
And the Police gonna catch me there because they know
havin’ too much fun, in Provincetown

I JUST WANT TO MESS AROUND

Well the way I feel, it ain't too mysterious
and the way I feel well it ain't too serious
and the way I feel, well you might say I'm delirious
but I just want to mess around

and a what I see, well it don't make me furious
but what I see, well it's sure got me curious
and what I see, well it don't look too injurious
so I just want to mess around
bridge
well won't you mess around, won't you take my hand
Oh won't you mess around, I want to be your man
don't want to walk you down the aisle
I just want to make you smile
so won't you mess around, a mess around with me

DISTRICT ATTORNEY
District attorney, he done got another man 2x
Well goodbye baby, I'll do the best I can
(to keep you locked up)

District Attorney take that man away 2x
you can't go round hurtin me,
cause I'll make you stay away

District Attorney, won't you clean up this town 2x
There's shooting in the streets,
they're cuttin young children down

District attorney, take those bad men away 2x
District attorney, won't you make them pay and pay
